I realized this New Economy thing was messing with my head the other day when I looked at a sign advertising a LUNCHEON, and for two full counts I could only read it as LUNCH-EON, the latest startup craze after Healtheon and Infineon. Guaranteed to bring a hot lunch to your cubicle within a half hour or your money back.

Now comes news that Be.com is suing eBay.com on the grounds that eBay is a pig latin version of their name and therefore part of their registered mark. Sigh.

It's enough to make you want to zoom far into the future where all of this will become a distant memory, and where all the intellectual property statutes of limitation will have long since expired. Which brings us to today's story...
