Hi Ned!
I stumbled upon your website while carrying out a research on colours in Bantu languages and I am definitely going to spread the word about your colour/language project! I'd love to see some more African languages featured there...
Thanks and keep up the good work :)

Hey Ned, I found your Elvish alphabet page and spent the better part of an hour trying to figure out how to spell my name. My double e is really throwing me off. Please help!

So I'm not particularly a fan of the LotR/Elvish stuff, but i stumbled upon your "Write Your Name in Elvish in Ten Minutes" page and I was a bit intrigued. However, with my name I was unsure how to write it since my name is semi-unique. Again, I just thought it was an interesting thing to consider weird names like mine.

Jene'e
first syllable is like the "Ju" in "Judge" but with a little more of a French "zhu" on it
second syllable is like "Nay".
It's like Renee but with a J
and it has an apostrophe! Which is really the main thing i was pondering. it isn't an accent mark like a traditional French name would have...so yeah. What would you do for my name in Elvish? :)

Apropos of hookworm: My sisters and I told the babysitter, who was reluctant to feed us moldy hotdogs, that our mother washed the mold off before cooking the hotdogs-frugal!. Moldy hotdogs is a family joke. I have a cast iron digestive tract-not so for my in-laws. My daughter is a huge Tolkien fan.

I like what you're doing, this is not intended as a criticism, but some of the elvish is wrong. The sign for a 'k' sound is the sound you have ascribed for the c; there is no separate sign for c. A soft c is written written with an 's' sign. The sign ascribed to the k is actally the sign for 'qu.' The sign for w is actually an inverse of the one shown. Again, I'm just trying to help =)

Hi Mr. Gully!
I was just writing my name in elvish, and I was wondering what you were supposed to do if there was a vowel after a double consonant. I don't believe the vowel is silent. Other than that, thank you for your really helpful article!

Hey Ned,
I just found your page and the sight today and its really great. I noticed how many people asked you to write words for them- i bet that was really annoying. I actually found writing in Elvish easy because of the great tutorial- it explains everything!! I hope i've actually been doing it right!
I absolutely LOVE lord of the rings- they're like the best movies!
It's really good and I think really inspiring that you can have such a passion and interest for something like this type of writing for so long.
Keep it up!

Cheers, Esther :)

Hi, Mr. gulley, I was wondering if you could just clarify something for me?

I love your elvish alphabet but am slightly confused about the letter 'Y'.

I usually move it down and to the left in all my writing, ( .. )however I notice that you have different forms for a 'consonant' and a 'vowel'.

I'm not quite sre why that is and was wondering if you could explain, with possible examples?

Thank you for your time :)
